The Texas DPS data upload will reject the entire file if any data fails validation. For this reason, we recommend uploading data for one business day at a time. The validation process will provide a list of invalid records. Each item of bad data will have an item number and a failure reason. The item number is used to identify the specific ticket that contains the invalid data. The invalid data for each item must be corrected in Scrap Dragon and the entire export & upload process will have to be repeated. The data problems can be corrected as follows:
Open the XML Upload File
- Open the xml upload file using either notepad or xml editor.
- The xml file consists of individual transactions for each ticket line.
- Each data field is identified by a label enclosed in brackets < >
- The item number is contained in an xml field named
- To find a specific item, use the editor find feature to search for the string ‘ks>n’ where n is the item number (do not include the quotes). For example, to find item 12 you would search for ks>12
- Once you are on the correct item number, look up a few lines for the xml field this will be the Scrap Dragon ticket number.
- Also look for the invalid data as described in the failure reason on the Texas DPS web site.
- You can minimize this file but keep it open as you work through all of the data problems.
Edit Scrap Dragon Data
- If the ticket has not been paid, then it can be reopened and repaired in scrap buying from the view closed list.
- If the ticket has already been paid, then it can be edited and repaired using Edit Paid Ticket. To access this screen, either use the View Paid list in scrap buying or use the Edit Paid Ticket option from the User Menu.
- If the issue is with the delivery vehicle, then make sure to change the data in the ticket and in the customer’s file.
- If the issue is with the customer data, then make the corrections using the Customer Master file Maintenance of use the Edit Customer button in Edit Paid Ticket.
When all of the corrections have been made in Scrap Dragon, close the xml file and run the Export – Texas DPS process again and upload the resulting xml file to the Texas DPS web site.
